Bounty Hunter 4 inch Gold Nugget Search Coil

415FV5BQY9L. SL160 Bounty Hunter 4 inch Gold Nugget Search Coil

While a standard coil is great for finding large objects that are deeply buried, the 4-inch coil has a narrower field of detection ¿ enabling your detector to separate objects more efficiently. The 4-inch coil’s shallower detection area makes it ideal for prospecting in difficult, high metal areas since it allows you to more easily discriminate valuable objects from refuse. In addition to allowing the precise pinpointing of objects, a smaller coil lets you probe tight spots such as corners an

A Little Metal Detecting at the Beach

I recently did a little Metal Detecting at the Beach. I found a few things, but nothing really to write home about. In the coming days I am going out to a very old spot in the area where the very first settlers landed in Ormond Beach. I’m really excited about getting down there and am definitely going to get back to the beach soon. I want to break in my new Beach Scoop.

Metal Detecting: Beach Detecting Tips

One of the best places to go Metal Detecting and almost guarantee that you will find something is the beach. People visit the beach on a daily basis and are known for losing valuable items when doing so. Due to the fact that the Beach is frequented so much by people it makes it a no brainer to take your Metal Detector and search for lost treasures on a regular basis.

Although the Beach is a great place to go with your Metal Detector there are some tips you should be aware of before hand. Just don’t run out and start swinging your Metal Detector without first taking some of these things into consideration.

Find A Less Popular Beach

Although you want to Detect the popular areas, there is a time and place to do so. I will cover when this should be in a moment. First lets start with the less popular areas. Less popular meaning, less popular to other detectorist’s not necessarily unpopular to go soak up the rays and swim in the surf. Naturally there are places more frequented than others, like some that draw very large crowds  verses those that only draw moderate crowds. If you can’t plan to get out in the morning or early evening when competition isn’t as heavy you should try one of these less frequented, yet still frequented area’s were I guarantee your competition hasn’t been and you will have a field day.005 300x225 Metal Detecting: Beach Detecting Tips

Take Your Time

There are  miles upon miles of beach and it’s not going to disappear tomorrow or anytime. So take your time and detect every inch thoroughly. I see so many people sprinting down the Beach with their Metal Detector trying to hunt every inch of the Beach in one day, no doubt missing out on some really good finds. Take a moderately slow approach and remember there will be other days to hunt on the horizon.

Technique

Use proper technique just like any where else. Watch your coil height. Don’t keep your coil a foot off the ground, being scared to scratch it. Keep the coil low and just remember to wash your coil off when your done. You will go through coils eventually and there is no sense being over protective and defeating the purpose of Metal Detecting by keeping your coil to high off the ground and missing out on lost treasures. The finds you are missing out on could pay for the coils your trying to protect.

Discrimination

Where are you setting the Discrimination? You should be setting it very low and digging everything. Go all metal mode and get the most depth you can. Your going to dig trash, this is just a fact of life and comes with the territory. With all the competition out there you probably won’t dig as much trash as you believe you will. Dig as many targets as you can, it’s not the Detector most the time it’s the person swinging the machine. The more targets you dig and faster the more likely you are of making good finds.

Timing is Everything

The time of the day that you go is everything especially when it come to Beach hunting. Like I mentioned earlier, you want to go when your competition is least likely to go or before they get there. Monday – Friday are when people normally work and are less likely to go to the Beach. So if you want to get a jump on your competition, go on Friday evening when they are most likely out on the town eating or doing other things. Saturday morning is when they will show up bright and early. Meanwhile you have already been there and got all the goods. This is when you can hit up the less popular spots and still add to your finds total.

After the busy weekend is another good time to go. While others are there on Saturday morning and most likely not going to be back, the busy weekend is coming to an end. This is a great time to get out on Sunday evening and see what else can be found.

If you implement these tricks your finds will go up by 50% or more. Just think about when your competition is most likely to go and stay one step ahead of them. Don’t always stick to the most popular area’s. There are other areas that aren’t as busy that are just as good because your competition aren’t going to think of this so you will be able to make some great finds.

Remember always bring a trash bag and and fill in your holes. As always Happy Hunting!!
